Is this what kismet is? I'm looking to move back east from Los Angeles next year and this just showed up in my newsfeed that Vermont is going to pay eligible remote workers up to $10,000 to move there. This could be the perfect situation for travelers and online business owners that want a new cheap place to live, or just anyone obsessed with maple syrup and Bernie Sanders. This has been in the news before, but today S.94 was signed by Governor Phil Scott after it passed by the Vermont House and Senate. If anyone ever watched School House Rock, you know that this bill has now become a law! Just sub in the president of the governor when you're at the state level. Why is Vermont Paying for Remote Workers? Vermont is about to be dealing with a big problem their already tiny … [Read more...]
Travel Inspiration Newsletter for August 2018
This post comes from my email newsletter that I send to my subscribers once a month. I do this instead of bombarding the subscribers with emails everytime I post something new. I also kind of stole the idea from Tim Ferriss. If you'd like to sign up for free monthly updates sign up here.I'm thinking about giving away travel gifts or something to subscribers. Maybe if I get 100 new people on the list this month I'll start picking a random person for a free gift. Thoughts?Travel Quote of the Month "It is better to travel well than to arrive." -Buddha When I do research on a trip, I DO RESEARCH ON A TRIP. I'm going to Hong Kong in a few months so I'm currently reading up about the religions there, Buddhism being one of them. STATS Currently in: Los AngelesNext trip: … [Read more...]
Traveler Rant: I Now Realize What My Travel Type Is
After you impromptu solo European backpacking trip last April, I have had the travel bug really bad. I know a lot of my friends also love to travel, but for some reason we’ve been having trouble lining up plans. I think I figured it out as I’m planning my next European trip.Everyone has their own travel style. My family, for example, are the typical Long Island vacationers. They’ll take their annual trip to Orlando and see Disney World, or they will take a long weekend in the Poconos. Then you have my buddy Adam who goes around the world looking for some crazy way to spike his adrenaline. I guess you can call him a adventure traveler and my family a Disney-fied traveler type.Me, well I’m going to dub myself a dork traveler.I’m okay with that. Apparently nerds are cool … [Read more...]
Things to Do in Prague (Solo Backpacker’s Ultimate Guide)
Earlier this year I went to Prague for my first time. I did a solo backpacking trip that included Barcelona, Rome/The Vatican, Prague, and London. I think my biggest regret from that entire trip is that I didn't plan spend more time in Prague. I didn't realize that there were so many things to do in Prague with so many attractions! And it is cheap!I was only there for 2 and a half days, but I really powered through and saw as many points of interest and sights as possible. I believe I saw the best things to do in Prague, but there is still so much more I researched (most mentioned below) that I'll be heading back soon to see.Prague is a dream city for a budget traveler. For example, I stayed in a $12 hostel the first night and a luxury 5-star hotel the second night for about … [Read more...]
The New Day Bag I REALLY Want for Backpacking
It sounds a little obvious, but having a good backpack is one of the key things to keep in mind when backpacking. You'll need a large bag that you can keep most of your stuff in that you'll hopefully be able to fit into overhead compartments on an airplane. After that, you'll need a smaller day bag to carry around while you are out exploring and need a few things on hand.Currently I have the Osprey Farpoint 55 travel backpack set. It comes with large backpack that just fits into overhead bins along with a day bag that zips and clips onto that bag. Let me preface this whole post about another bag by saying I LOVE my Farpoint 55. It maxes out the amount of space I can fit stuff into carry-on luggage and also has the convenient bag connector. The main reason I got this bag was … [Read more...]
